The lake is finally down to summer pool. They made some real progress on getting it there I figured we would have had more rain that would held things up but we didn't. With all the heat we have had in the last two weeks it through these fish into a summer pattern. They went straight from the bushes into weed edges holding at 8 to 15 feet. The water temp is 78-80 with the water being pretty clear in most spots. With all the boat traffic yesterday it did get a little stained due to that but most spots are good. So far going into today my boat has 4 with a really nice 45 my client Jarrod Childers got yesterday. All my fish have come out of weeds and they have all came on rubber. Medussa, Bull Dawg, Real Fish, EXO all of these have moved numerous fish. Seems the color for me is Chart that is the color moving the most. Some spots have a bunch of weeds and some don't I have moved fish on all types of spots. Actually yesterday I almost didn't fish the spot we got the 45 on because I drove over it to see if the weeds were there yet and I didn't hardly any but I fished any way and the spot were I saw some weeds produced this fish with another follow that was around 40. The reason why some spots don't have weeds yet is because of the high water they will be there by fall. It seems early and late are the ticket with the sunshine days. I have not had action past 11:30. Trolling is producing fish also trolling 8-15 feet on the weed edges. Little Ernies, Depth Raiders, Believers seem to be working the best. All the ramps are open now and have been for 2 weeks so no problems putting in now. Good luck this week if you get out I see on the weather that we are going to have a couple nights in 50's with highs in 70's this will help Monday and Tuesday for sure. Make sure you stop in and check things out if you get out..
Good Luck see you on the pond!!

"Gina Catches a Fat 48 1/2 Incher !!" October 23, 2007 on a TOP Raider in Full Figure 8 Turn !
Gina & I finally got to go fishing together for the first time in years.......we wanted to try out my new 21' Ranger with that 300hp Verado(awesome ride). It had been raining all day and we were soaked! We had first fished the back of Scott's Creek and I had one hit and lost it and then raised one more; I decided to make a quick run over to the beach area because I knew with there had to be some huge fish in there and I was right. Gina was working a Top Raider by Bucher Tackle and had asked me earlier if she should take it under water while doing figure 8's and I said yes by all means! I could tell that she was getting tired and her back was hurting and she said this is my "LAST CAST", started her figure 8 and said "there he is"! She kept the doing figure 8's and took it down close to the reel and came back up on the fourth or fifth turn and I watched that Muskies Huge mouth open and nail it! The fight was on.......she didn't have much line left to use and faught to keep it under water while I got the net. After 3 attempts we finally got it in the net! Whew.......what a blast! She was so excited (doing her I got a fish dance.....ha-ha) Of all the days not to have my camera with us and there was no way we were gonna' release this one without a pic; so I had to call Justin to come over to us with his clients (whom had already raised 14 Muskies). Great Day.....I'm so proud! Crash

2010 Schedule
$20,000 1st Place Prize* Qualifier 1: Southern Shootout! April 17th & 18th, 2010 - Cave Run Lake, Kentucky Hosted by Morehead Tourism Commission
Located in Northeastern Kentucky, this lake (at normal summer pool) is 8,270 acres and can reach up to 14,870 acres at maximum flood control pool. Cave Run was made by the construction of a 2,700 foot dam across the Licking River, it has a large area of standing timber that was left prior to the impoundment. This has created hundreds of prime habitat areas for muskies. Depths range from 10' to 60'. To fish this great body of water will be a thrill of a life time.
In the last several years weed growth has increased yielding even more exciting fishing opportunities. This tournament historically produces lots of muskies and is a great way to jump start the season.
TOURNAMENT CENTRAL: Perkins Center, located in Morehead.
WATERS OPEN/OFF LIMIT DURING THE TOURNAMENT: Open: All parts of the lakes and coves up to Fugates Branch in the river are open. Off Limits: All back waters or bays/coves that one would have to go under a bridge or through a creek of any kind to get to are off limits.

Crash Mullins Guides You to Musky Fishing SOUTHERN STYLE
Crash and Justin Mullins host an hour of Southern Musky fishing at its best. There is plenty of action on Melton Hill Lake, TN, Cave Run, KY, Buckhorn Lake KY, and Green River Lake, KY as Crash and Justin and their guests cover the water and the seasons. The muskies cooperate, except for the first segment for Justin. To say he had a run of bad luck would be an understatement, for sure!
Watching Crash on this video was a little strange for me. We have been friends for over 20 years; in fact I remember Crashs PINK Ranger jacket. I am used to that signature Crash statement ending in a question over a coffee at Crashs Landing at the MuskieFIRST outing in the spring, or in his booth at a Sport Show, so it was a bit weird hearing that coming from my TV.
Crash is a gracious and entertaining host on film, yet still gets in his jabs now and again, like... Whos your Daddy now......hah?.. to Justin after a short battle with a very nice fish.
Instruction is king while action rules the video. You will learn about shallow, muddy water and muskies. Instruction on throwing spinnerbaits, cranks, and rattle traps is included as is the absolute necessity to do the figure 8 right and often. Several fish are caught on film eating on an 8, one which is nothing short of spectacular eating bait after a VERY long time figure eighting.
This video is not some slick, studio created tons-of-slow-motion special effects production; its quintessential Crash and Justin at their best; friendly, instructional, and entertaining.
Muskies Southern Style is well worth a 65 minute watch, just make sure you have the volume up and the popcorn popped.

"Crash" Mullins: Southern Style Musky Fishing Fishing guide and Cave Run Lake businessman David "Crash" Mullins treats viewers to some close quarters brawling with big fish in his 65-minute DVD Southern Style Musky Fishing. With son, Justin, and local guests, Mullins fishes four reservoirs -- Cave Run Lake, Green River Lake and Buckhorn Lake in Kentucky and Melton Hill Lake, near Knoxville. The action is fast and furious, with numerous big muskies hooked at the boat, while casting flooded shoreline brush in the spring. The instructional DVD, which sells for $24.95, shows viewers how to fish high-water levels in reservoirs during the spring, explains why some big fish move up shallow, and gives some good advice on lure choices. Tips are given for fishing laydowns, deadfall trees that demand precision casting. You also find out how to figure-eight lures more effectively to trigger strikes at the boat, when muskies follow a retrieve. There's also some good advice on fishing lipless "rattle" crankbaits, a top lure choice in the fall and early spring. While the production has some rough cuts, the overall quality is very good, and the entertaining DVD will make viewers better muskie anglers. Plus, you get to see a nice fish smash a figure 8 boatside, and you get to see Crash tell someone to turn the camera off cuz he couldn't get his life preserver on, and other funny moments.
